My experience in FIO 09

FIO is an international birdwatching fair that take place in Extremadura.
People come from different parts of Spain and from another countries. There, you can experiment sensations of the nature, learning about tourism of different spaces and enjoy nature.
There are associations of protection of the nature, sostenibility and activities like photography, gastronomy, economy, interpretation centers, technology or exhibitions.
They promote different types of tourism in each zone, like cultural, rural, birdwatching, wealth and sport, but, the most important is the birdwatching tourism.

We were last saturday in the stand of "Universidad de Extremadura: Facultad de Estudios Empresariales y Turismo".
I'm very satsfied with the experience. We could feel like professionals for first time. It was very interesting and didactic.
I was very surprised of the high repercusion that the birdwatchng tourism has in Extremadura and with the interest of people to protect nature (people was very involved in the protection of nature, despite the fair was specially about ornithology). A lot of associations offered projects to protect the environment, and they transmitted his passion for nature and its concern to protect it. Some of us signed to move the solar plants to another part which is set in the project.

In conclusion, FIO 09 has been a good experience and I hope to go there next year, and to stay in another fairs so important like this.

Tourism in Caceres

At first, Caceres is situated in the south of the north province of Extremadura region. Is to 107 kilometres from portugal and to 300 kilometers from Madrid, the capital city of Spain.

In the last 30 years, Caceres has improved in tourism.
Caceres had 72 000 habitants. Tourism wasn't enough developed. Accomodation was smaller than actually, and hotels and hostels were lower levels, just as there were fewer companies speialized in tourism.
There was a political situation in change. Technology had a little development. Accesibility was very bad because there was a poor road network.
Now, everything has improved.

There are 92 187 habitants in Caceres. There are more companies specalized in tourism, in transport, restaurants, discos and accomodation (with bigger and best seating capacity with four-star hotels). There are also different types os holiday like sightseeing, cultural visits, business with tourism conference,religious and nature (less practised in Caceres capital). Furthermore, communication and accessibiity has improved with new highways that make shorter the distances.
Caceres has a good political siuation and a bad purchasing power of population because of crisis that causes debts and unempoyment. There is an important development in technology, and in the future, we will have an international airport. We must also remind the importance of the university, which attracts large numbers of young people.
We must talk about the heritage resources.
Caceres has a lot of famous places, monuments, museums, churches and catedrals. For example, Santa Maria's church, San Jorge's church, Main Square, Shrine of the Virgen de la Montaña or the Palace of th Golfines de Arriba. There is important too te bullring, where there are bullfighting and concerts as well as another recreationals activities.
Are famous too some festivities like San Blas day, San Jorge, the Fair in May and the Easter, which is of regional interest. Finally, there are music festivals, like Play Caceres, or Womad and Extremusica, that now take place in other parts of the region.

In conclusion, Caceres is a beautiful city with a lot of resources and good people,so you must visit this city.
